Kowalska Signs with Andersen Racing
For Three Star Mazda Races in Aug.
PALMETTO, Fla., Aug. 2 - Andersen Racing will enter a car for Poland's
Natalia Kowalska in the next three races of the Star Mazda Championship presented by
Goodyear, team co-owner Dan Andersen said today.
The events will be held Aug. 9 at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis.; Aug. 17
in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, and Aug. 23 at Mosport International Raceway in
Bowmanville, Ontario.
Kowalska competed in three other Star Mazda races this year with another
team. Her best finish to date is a 12th-place finish at Watkins Glen, N.Y. She is
not competing for the overall championship this year.
"We're delighted to add Natalia to our strong roster of drivers," said
Andersen. "Based on her background and what she has shown, we believe we can help
her achieve great results this season."
Kowalska's addition brings the team back to a four-car effort in the Star
Mazda series. Its other female driver, Juliana Gonzalez, departed due to
financial difficulties. A fifth driver, Finland's Valle Makela, also plans to compete
in three Star Mazda races later this year with the Palmetto, Fla.-based
team.
Half of the top-six positions in the current point standings are held by
Andersen Racing drivers. Charles Hall is second, just five points out of the
lead. Tom Gladdis, who won one of the events last weekend in Portland, is fifth
and Peter Dempsey is sixth. All are rookies in the series.
Kowalska, 18, competed in selected rounds of the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern
European Cup and Formula Renault 2.0 EuroCup last year. She excelled in
karting, earning the Polish Karting Championship in both the ICA 100 and ICA 100
National categories in 2005. A resident of Biesiekierz, West Pomeranian
Voivodeship, Poland_, she is sponsored by Natan Developers. More details on her
racing accomplishments can be found on her Web site at kowalskanatalia.pl.
Andersen Racing offers a unique, three-step program in its efforts to provide
the best training an up-and-coming formula car driver can receive anywhere.
Its F2000 Championship Series team is competing at Road America this weekend,
while its Firestone Indy Lights team will be in action at Kentucky Speedway
next Friday and Saturday. The team, which is sponsored by Allied Building
Products Corp., is the official development team of IndyCar's Rahal Letterman Racing.
